I heard on KBIG radio this morning people singing 80's songs ie karoke to get onstage at the show. This 80's thing is also a Karoke sing along party

I awoke this morning to my usual latte and morning newspaper routine.
There's a very nice feature in the entertainment section about the show tomorrow and it features that striking Secrets album cover picture. I forgot to bring it to work to scan and it's not appearing on the paper's website..... ( www.dailynews.com ) Nonetheless, this is the highest profile for the band I've seen in a while! I smell sulfur.

Is anyone looking for excellent seats to the Hollywood Bowl show?
I have two box seats on Joanne's side in the garden section. These are among the best seats at the bowl. Garden section 412. $80 each. I have a friend who has a 4-seat box and she wants me to buy two from her and sit there. I can email or meet with the tickets. Thanks Earl I smell sulfur.

Do what we do and do a sneaky one. Can't believe you can't record your own gig.

How ridiculoous that you can't record your own gig.

When it seems that things can't get worse, take solace in the fact that at least you're not from Stoke. If you are from Stoke, take solace in the fact that things actually can't get any worse. |

Great pictures to add to the anticipation!
We just went to Trader Joe's in Toluca Lake to buy some goodies to eat and the checkout lady mentioned that many people who came from through her line were going to the show and she noted how bad she wanted to go. The Hollywood Bowl is the largest outdoor amphitheatre in the US. It was recently completely refurbished, sound system and all. I smell sulfur.

What an absolutely brilliant show!!! ABC was stellar, obviously with the hits, but also with new song, Ride, I think.
Psych Furs were amazing too! They've always been big in LA, thanks to KROQ and the haven't lost a bit during their hiatus. Jane Wiedline came out in Go-Go's towels and white beauty face mask. Later she was joined by 7-foot tall drag queens dressed like the other members of the Go-Go's. She mentioned the famous David Bowie quote and also that Dare was one of the best albums of all time. She said it was because of Dare, the Go-Go's chose Martin Rushent to produce their third album Talk Show. A very special and spur of the moment treat: Anabelle Lynn from Bow Wow Wow was in the front row -- Jane introduced her and then we all got to sing "I Want Candy" along with Anabelle!! 15,000 folks stayed all the way until the very end for the obvious crowd favorite and highlight of the show: The Human League. They entered looking very chic in dark glasses and black overcoats (the girsl), Phil's had some sort of pattern. I've seen this entry before, but they just looked that much more. Phil noted they went to the Beverly Center twice, so maybe some shopping was done! He said something about a taxi to the Beverly Center, there must have been a funny story there. Phil commented on how he was pleased to play the famous Hollywood Bowl and noted how it was nice to appear on the same stage as Bugs Bunny had appeared. He said Bugs was one of his favorites!!! The band was in TOP form. They rocked the place and sounded so dynamic. They had that crowd on its feet most of the night, which is saying something for an LA crowd. The instrumentation and mix was delightful. They filled America's largest outdoor amphitheatre with a wall o' sound! We got a lighter, more 80s hits driven playlist, which fit in well with the theme for the evening. I would have loved to hear All I Ever Wanted, but that's how it goes! Later the gals took off the coats and came out in their 'little black dresses'. Too hot! Phil's energy was amazing, voice too! DB got a large cheer from the crowd when introduced. It felt amazing to be with all these people who loved the band as much as I do. Set list: The Sound of the Crowd Open Your Heart Heart Like A Wheel Mirror Man Love Action Empire State Human (Phil played some synth) The Lebanon (amazing to hear the crowd scream passionately 'who will have won when the soldiers have gone?' and 'weren't we supposed to keep the peace?') Human Tell Me When Fascination Don't You Want Me? Encore: Electric Dreams Something new for me: instead of lighting lighters the whole place held up their wireless phones! What a sight!! I've seen Depeche Mode over a dozen times here, including the Rose Bowl and Dodger Stadium and I have to say the League gave the Mode a run for the money on its claim as one of the best electro live acts. The League's performance was a text book lesson on how an electronic band should put on a live show. BRILLIANT. THANKS BAND for what I have to say is your best show ever in Los Angeles. Earl I smell sulfur.

Awesome show and in such a Bigg place!!
I couldn't believe how many people were behind us and up the hill! And yes Earl that hold up your cell phone was a nice sight! It's seemed to me to be a shortened show cuz on the curfew at the Bowl. The words for the Karoke stopped just into the songs too... But a super show none the less! Brought that cooler and had a great time. They had north american League 2006 tour tee's to! I got one, they didn't have those the night before...? And tower records had the DVD's & cd's right there for sale, good for them, they probably sold a lot! later Jeff |
