Jobs. Gainful employment. Would need that. Which turns out to be difficult to orchestrate.

Great news! Might be a good time to visit my Dad
I would prefer to not see HL do this sort of thing (they are now firmly off the Here and Now circuit) but my selfishness overcomes me. With so many good or reasonable acts on it's gonna be too hard to miss this one. ******************

Human League at Retrofest | ||
|
Hi folks, Retrofest here. While I cannot comment on some of the stuff here, I'd like to point out a few things:
1) Retrofest isn't about saying these are old bands or anything like that. The Retro comes from the fact that the songs everyone remembers these bands for aren't the ones currently in the charts (barring massive iTunes sales) 2) THL will be doing a considerable mix of new and old material as they have quite a lengthy set planned 3) Can't say if they are headlining or not but there's a hint above. Tickets are now on sale through Ticketmaster and hopefully we'll see a few of you good people there. |

As I've said before to people that were anti- when they did the Here & Now things, I simply look at it as being another chance to see THL live. Just because it's this type of gig rather than a pure THL tour doesn't mean that they'll play their music any differently or sing their songs any differently - they're still THL songs being played and sung by THL.
In the process you also get to see others that you might not want to see a whole gig from, but whose main hits will be a welcome bonus. __________________________________________________

If they went down the road of Bananarama (and I love Bananarama) and others of doing Butlins then I'd have serious reservations but a gig playing to thousands of like minded 80's fans can't be such a bad thing surely?
What's this about doing 'newer' material? Will the lead single from the new album be released by September??? ________________________________________________________________________

Very decent of Retrofest to come here to state their case, so big respect for that. Very few event organisers would be prepared to do that. And now I feel awful for being rude in my initial post.
My initial position that it is a wrong for direction THL stands, and I'm hardly comfortable the event name. But as its going to happen anyway, headlining should not be under debate. (unless The Stones are likely to turn up) You have a stadium band here playing next to "Butlins" (not my phrase) bands. So pure economics dictates that they should be given star billing. The Band wont stamp their feet and demand it, they're just not like that! But I'm sure if bands of equal stature like 'The Police' or 'Duran Duran' were booked their PRs would be all over it and Retrofest would be blazing them across the skies. Look forward to seeing the publicity campaign. |

The most important thing is that we're all Massive(s) & that we have a League passion for life
For years (1981-199 I like more music (Fun Boy Three, The Eurythmics, Bjork, The Specials, Prince, reggae and so on) but I've got the luck that I'm only a superfan of the mighty League. I understand Andy's point of view but every gig is an opportunity to see THL live |

Re: !! | ||

yeah its great that THL are playing ALL these live gigs..they have been doing it for how long now since the release of the magnificent 'Secrets' album. However, its just a bit frustrating when so many other places are enjoying THL live and they have totally left Australia out.
I will type this information yet ANOTHER time here....The Metro or The Enmore in Sydney are fantastic places for THL to play at and they may even be surprised at packing the house..The Metro has about 2,000 capacity and the Enmore about 3,000 or so. Its not that expensive to travel to Australia now...im sure THL could find some discounted airfare if money is an issue (I say that because on nearly every interview I have seen with Phil and he speaks of money, he seems to make a reference that the band doesn't have any! (lol) So there you have it..I'm not trying to second guess the band or anything like that (heaven forbid!), I'm just saying that as a loyal fan for the past 26 years I get a bit pissed off at reading all the NEW live dates that THL are doing and always not being able to see them!!! Oh yes, stop with these stupid '80s revival concerts. I mean, who chooses the bands to participate? Go West? MMM yes they really had some great tunes....not! Happy Easter everyone! |
