This was a wonderful night.
The car journey to the venue was spoiled by a crash and diversion but, I was more determined to have a good time as a result. Met the mini Massive at the front of the stage and enjoyed Neosupervital's set. Tim has recruited 2 American girls since their set in March and this works well. Miss K on keyboard and vocals (clad in alluring pvc) and Jessie on guitars and vocals (scantily clad in suspenders and black top) together with dancing Vin worked their way through their set. I like them, they have a good sense of humour and the interaction with the crowd on 'Jazz Facist' was hilarious and joyous. The venue was quite empty for NSV but very packed when THL took to the stage. Close but no sold out sign. The new lighting is excellent and the screens were effectively used as always. The Lebanon had the most striking lighting effects of all IMHO. Love Action is a good opener, esp with the ext intro. The band were in good form, they are deternined to have a good time and it's an infectious feeling. Philip's moustache is horrible!! It just takes away from his good looks. Not too keen on his first outfit either. Brown leather trousers and a creased shirt. Not his usual elegant, chic style. Susan was a picture of elegance in a lovely black dress and Joanne chose black too. It was a delight to hear Marianne and 1st Man again. The crowd were slow to get going but, and it's a big but, they whipped themselves into a frenzy and it was truly wonderful when they got going. The setlist was disappointing from my perspective. I had hoped that JJ's poll would have been taken into consideration as it has done previously. This has been discussed at length I know. I think the next tour will deliver more of what we would like to hear though. Overall though I can't complain. It's a brilliant production. The sound was fantastic. At one stage Susan and I looked at each other and said "It's hot" at the same time. Good to get a big smile and wave from db I met Simon Watson after the show and we had a good chat. I like him. He's decent and honest and told me that they were using all the local PA for the Irish dates. Well I'm so delighted that Stig used some of my shots for the programme as well as some of my questions. Thank you. It's his best work yet. The Q and A is superb. Great merchandise this year. Had a chat with my fellow board members outside before heading home as happy as Larry. Who's Larry? |

Quote: I'd a) love it, b) be flattered*, and c) be very surprised if that was the case, Stephen. I would think there's a very large slice of coincidence that Open Your Heart, Empire State Human and Marianne (the previous poll winners) are all now regulars. (*Although it's obviously everyone that contributes to the poll that gets the list going, not just me.) I reckon DB probably saw the results this year, shook his head, and thought we're all mental - not for the first time! __________________________________________________

Well I have no doubt that db does pay attention to your poll JJ. I think that you are very modest about its' influence. You are very right to point out that we all contribute to it and it would be wonderful if more people contributed in future. Following your simple rules of course

Just to add that while its good to see the recent poll on this website playing some indirect part in choosing the set-list for the current tour, but do take note that the inclusion of Open Your Heart in the current set-list is largely down to the persistent of David Beevers who has for years tried to persuade Philip to include the track itself in their live-set, but seemly Philip was somewhat reluctant due to the fact that the track itself doesnt have a chorus, but with the new, and extended live version added to the set, it was the fans appreciative response to the this version of the track itself, and the track being brought back that its included in the present set-list.
