Great gig last night. I really enjoyed it.
Neosupervital were a great support band again. I chatted with Mr Neosupervital before the gig for a couple of minutes. Nice guy. Looks so different in his regular clothes (as opposed to his Neo get up of grandad suit & tie costume). Finally managed to see Marianne performed live. Loved it. The screens were great and really added to the overall show itself. Vicar Street is a brilliant venue and just big enough to be intimate without being cramped. Crowd were really up for it and they got a really good reception.Standout tracks for me were Marianne, Empire State Human, Seconds, Don't You Want Me, The Lebanon and Electric Dreams. The sound was fantastic and really beefed up especially Empire. Played around with the opening bars of DYWM a bit. Seconds sounded amazing and Phil's voice was superb. Faultless. Neil seemed to be having problems on Heart Like A Wheel much to Nics amusement. Duds were: none! Enjoyed them all (even One Man  ) They all looked great. Not sure about the taches on the three guys. Looks a bit comedy if you ask me. Knowlesy wasn't impressed at all.  Joanne looked fab in her encore get up.  Loverly. Twice Oakey nearly fell off the stage and on another nearly knocked Susan onto her ass whilst running from side to side. Susan lost her shoe during Fascination and was  much to the delight of the rest of us.Setlist was: Love Action Open Your Heart Mirror Man Louise Marianne Heart Like A Wheel First Man In Space Seconds The Lebanon One Man Human All I Ever Wanted Sound Of The Crowd Fascination Tell Me When Don't You Want Me -------------------- Empire State Human Electric Dreams I have to say that as much as I love Being Boiled it fails miserable as an encore song in comparison with Empire State. We met up with Simon Watson outside the venue and he told Knowlesy that the set was gonna change for the gig in Cork tonight. Can't believe I couldn't be there.  Really nice to meet up with Danny, Steve, Joe and Andy & Tim from Leeds - their second time over for Vicar Street. Looking forward to either Galway or Castlebar this weekend. ________________________________________________________________________

No doubt the change will be one of the following:
Marianne will be swapped for either The Things That Dreams Are Made Of, Empire State Human or Life On Your Own First Man In Space will be swapped for Empire State Human. Empire State Human will be swapped for Being Boiled. Of the 6 gigs I've seen so far, no night has had the same running order, but it's been Marianne, First Man In Space, and the first encore track that have been swapped in and out. ********

As far as I'm aware Phoenix was spot on. They got TTDAMO instead of Marianne and got Being Boiled instead of Empire.

Wow, what a concert!
I've waited 25 years to see them live, always missing them before, but the wait was worth it. They were superb. The sound and the lights were great, and the 3 screens were a great idea. Susanne looked like she was really, really enjoying it, and Phil was bouncing around like a teenager. It was a bit of a slow start I thought, but about halfway through,everything just loosened up and clicked into place, and Vicar St was rocking, we just didnt want it to end, hit after hit kept coming - What a band. Its never gone to their heads, they just keep making great unpretentious music. (Secrets was very underrated I thought as was Romantic) Empire state human was amazing - really should be re-released. Seconds was incredible live Just a pity no being boiled\these are the days\jam\love is all that matters\love me madly\life on yur own Great night, great band - Thanks Phil and Co, cant wait for the new stuff |

Holy cow! Great start to the first of 5 Irish dates.vicar st is a great venue. i really like them screens,They add a little extra to some of the songs.My favourite is the one used for "Heart Like A Wheel" You know the one about oil. also the fish one for "Human".
Nice to meet up again with patric,joan& scottie the dog who has facial hair very much like a certain singer.show a photo cs15 just to prove a point.Thanks a million for putting me up. Also nice to meet: Danny,Stephen & the 2 guys from Leeds. |
