Having very-recently bought my ticket for this very-concert I will now be attending this date in my home city. All do in much confusion the date on the ticket states that the concert itself is taking place on Wednesday 13th December, and not Tuesday 12th December!!!. I shall look forward to seeing another full-house (1.500) on the night itself, and hopefully on this occasion a far better, and more appropriate support act

Agree totally on the support act Danny. Empire State Human would be great. Are they still together now tho? Seems to be very quiet on that front.

Empire State Human | ||

... Empire State Human are currently on a one-year break, but Aidan & Lar from the band itself have started another project called The Garland Cult - www.thegarlandcult.com its more Disco-Dance orientated than ESH, especially the first single Impossible, but the second and excellent single All Good Things is more in the style of ESH, while the debut album Protect Yourself From Hollywood is being released later this year on the American Electronic label Ninthwave Records, once home to ESH. The band are also working with the famed Anni Hogan who is producing the track Talking With Aliens which appears on the album itself, which as you will know is a ESH track from their first album Martian Anthems, which if Im correct you have a copy of, along with their second album Pop Robot, all do Pop Robot was re-released on Ninthwave Records with a number of tracks from Martian Anthems, and a bonus track which was their excellent cover of the track itself Empire State Human. Cheers Danny. I actually don't have Martian Anthems. I have 'Pop Robot' (22 track version) & 'Alpha & Omega'. Will check out the Garland website. Cheers

At the moment an Aer Lingus flight to Dublin, on 12th Dec, costs 2 return, but the taxes take that up to 40. That's cheaper than it costs me to drive to a gig in Newcastle.
How easy is it to get from Dublin to Cork on public transport? ********

Re: 12.12.06 Dublin Vicar Street | ||

Very easy by train PDC. There is various trains from Dublin to Cork starting from 7am. Return ticket will cost 55 (about 40). Train takes about 2.5 hours. You can stroll from the station into the centre of Cork. You can check out www.irishrail.ie for additional info. Forgot to mention that from Dublin you leave from Hueston station. The Luas light rail system goes right past the door.
You can also fly from Dublin to Cork fairly cheaply too with Aer Arann. Try aerarann.ie ________________________________________________________________________

Please also do the post-gig discussion in this thread (as well as simply who's going to it), in order to ease the transition into one live area for the forum.
Thanks. __________________________________________________

attended last nights show in Dublin, well attended - just about short of being a full house, excellent atmosphere, well appreciated by the band itself - as always
they did (for me) a shorter set of about 1H.25M - was this the same for the U.K shows?. a good set, but I dont know how, or if it was any different to the U.K dates, but great to see Marianne played, while all the Dare tracks where also excellent along with the familiar singles, didnt like First Man In Space - not one of my favourite tracks, nor one that the audience seemed to be familiar with, so it fell somewhat flat, while I not keen on The Lebanon, and least not Electric Dreams, but opened with Love Action followed by Open Your Heart and finished the set with Dont You Want Me, coming back for the encore of Empire State Human and finishing with Electric Dreams - no Being Boiled. excellent, and very enjoyable concert, everyone left well pleased, didnt pick-up a programme yet, so I cant comment on that, but will do so in Cork. not a great deal else to report at this stage, but as expected cs15, Knowlesy & The Snake where all their, but I really not familiar with any one else from this forum. their was nothing in Dublins evening newspaper for the concert itself, not even an advert, while I dont know of anything else being done on the day for the concert itself, but above all I think everyone was more then pleased with the concert itself, while I did get some photos - but sorry, no idea how to post them here, not too mention an early start tomorrow for the trip to Cork. not exactly an in-depth report, but hopefully its of some use Synthetic Wishes Danny |

Thanks for the report. Sounds like the same as the UK shows (well, it still is UK
I do love 1st Man In Space. It's brilliant live - far better than the recorded version. Glad everyone seemed to enjoy though! ******************

League in Dublin | ||

Cheers for the report Synthetic97. Good to hear that it was well attended, hope the rest of the tour is the same.
What was the stage set like? Did they bring the whole show over? As far as I know they didnt bring it over on the last Irish tour, they only had it in the Dublin gigs. And One Man, not trying to sound too nationalistic but Dublin ain't part of the UK, its the capital of the Republic of Ireland. Although as they say in Cork, Cork is the REAL capital...... |

Sorry, it was a dig at the fact the original tour programme listed the Irish dates as UK dates until Stig was given a lesson in Geography. No offence to anyone. However, your Cork comment............
