Please also do the post-gig discussion in this thread (as well as simply who's going to it), in order to ease the transition into one live area for the forum.
Thanks. __________________________________________________

Do you know if the venue is in the city centre? If I get in at 20:35 it's gonna be a mad dash to the show..........and knowing Irish Rail.......bound to be a fuck up somewhere along the line. Looking for a hotel at the moment. ________________________________________________________________________

Just checked Danny and it's Eyre Square so slap bang in the city centre which is good. Don't think this is a seated gig.

Yes, I have my ticket for Galway which I bought back in mid-August, the ticket states that the venue itself is on Dyke Road, and not in Eyre Square, which according to a map that I have is just outside the city centre, just past the Headford Road, this website has plenty of details about the venue itself www.heymartina.com/venues/blackbox yes, from the above its a standing only venue that holds about a thousand. If youve not already booked a hotel, try either of the following websites www.goireland.com OR www.galway.net I was delayed on the train coming back from Cork yesterday, we stopped for some twenty-minutes due to engineering works, but I doubt if their would be anything similar on a Saturday evening. Let us know when you arrive, and we will more then likely see you both at the venue itself, just look for the flares Joe just send me a text, only about 200 so far in Killarney Off to put everything in the bag, the flask & sandwiches can wait until tomorrow morning Danny |

Good gig last night.
Mad dash to the train station for the 17:55 train to Galway. Panicked all the way that I would be late. Several calls to Joe and Danny assured me that all was ok. Finally got to the venue on the second last song of Neosupervitals set. There were no more than say 100 people in the venue for their set. Fairly bleak venue. Big stage - much bigger than Vicar Street yet there was no barrier between band and audience - you could literally hop onto the stage with the band if your heart so desired. To be honest I prefer when there is a barrier as it's just a little too close. Neo went down fairly well (well enough that quite a few people bought the cd from the merchandise stall afterwards). Myself Joe and Danny were worried about the turn out for the show as we had heard that only 400 tickets had been sold for it. Just before they came onstage it started to fill out a little (holds 900 people standing). By the time it was over I imagine there was 600 - 700 people there. Lights went down and there was barely a clap to be heard. The 3 of us looked at each other and were all thinking - oh shit! The four guys came out to virtual silence with db slipping but not actually falling during his entrance. ![]() The famous sounds of Love Action started up and all of a sudden the crowd sprang to life. There is a huge amount of talk on the board about changing the setlist etc (including me) but it's at shows like this one when you realise that it's those songs (the hits) and only those songs that the crowd wants to hear and thank god for them. We got the same set as Cork - no Marianne or FMIS but we did get TTDAMO, Empire & Being Boiled. ![]() The gig started out fairly tame but by half way through the place really came to life and by the time DYWM was played they had the audience. It's amazing how people respond to these songs. During Tell Me When we had an Oakey moment where he started his 'I wasn't into fighting, chasing sweating....' but we only got to hear 'I wasn't into sweating [blank]...........he completely forgot the words much to the amusement of all and Susan gave us the knowing 'muppet' look. Sound was once again crystal clear and beefy. Loved all the extra bits and pieces thrown into the mix. We got the false start intro to DYWM again which I can't decide if I like or not. The 'got dressed in the dark' dress sense of Phil was out in full force tonight when he appeared in this get up - even he looks shocked at his choice of shirt. ![]() Good gig and really enjoyed it. Met up with the guys from Neosupervital afterwards and had a good chat with them. We were just outside the venue chatting when the entire band came out the door to a waiting mini bus. I immediately made a bee line for Joanne. Really nice to meet up with Danny and Joe again. See you next year guys. ________________________________________________________________________

I forgot to mention that all the shirts have been re-printed now and the problem with the mouths have been rectified - they look pretty good.
